According to reports from the Reuters news agency, intensive strikes by Ukraine’s Defense Forces have significantly disrupted operations at no fewer than 17% of the oil refining facilities in Russia, the aggressor state.

Key points:

  • Ukraine strategically timed its escalation of attacks against Russian targets.
  • Russia extended its prohibition on gasoline exports through July 2025.

Latest developments in Ukraine’s advancements

Analysts highlight that Ukrainian forces recently targeted 10 Russian refineries.

These strikes halted production of roughly 1.1 million barrels per day.

Critically, these operations coincided with peak seasonal demand for gasoline among Russian tourists and agricultural workers.

It is noteworthy that prior to the attacks, Russia had already introduced stricter restrictions on fuel exports to address surging domestic consumption.

Fuel shortages have emerged in Russian-occupied regions of Ukraine, southern Russia, and even the Far East, prompting drivers to shift to pricier alternatives due to limited availability of standard A-95 gasoline.

Additionally, Major Robert “Madjar” Brovdi, commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, recently outlined the outcomes of operations targeting Russian oil infrastructure.

He officially confirmed that Ukrainian drones struck at least four major installations within Russian territory in recent weeks.
